CYNTHIA MAY HOUGHTON (nee MCARTHUR) On December 3, 2011, Cynthia Houghton, our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 82 years with family by her side. Prior to starting her family, Cynthia worked for the City of Winnipeg where she met her husband Ron. She was a member of the Philharmonic choir in Winnipeg and sang for many years in the United Church Choir in West Kildonan. The main focus of Cynthia's adult life was raising her four children. She was an unfailing volunteer in all of their activities. She was also an active and important member of the communities in which she lived where she served as the president of parent council and of the Margaret Park Community Centre. Cynthia was extremely social and made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed reading, bowling, bingo, playing cards and going for coffee. Cynthia was predeceased by her husband Ronald Houghton and her mother Ragney McArthur. She is survived by her children Christine Houghton, Gordon Houghton, Jocelyne Prefontaine (Duraid Ibrahim) and Carmen Prefontaine (Kevin Hayes) and by her eight grandchildren of whom she was so proud - Shea Dewar (Jaclynn Pehota), Joshua Zirk, Emily Hayes, Khalil Ibrahim, Freya Houghton, Liam Houghton, Ian Hayes and Jenna Ibrahim.
