DONNA MARIE ELMHIRST (nee EWACHA) With her loving family at her side, Donna Marie Elmhirst passed away peacefully in Victoria Hospice on November 29, 2011. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on October 27, 1945, to John and Mary, Donna was an elegant, strong, smart, determined woman with a generous heart and great sense of humour. Deeply committed to her family, she was known by her husband Brian, her two children Jennifer (Jack) and Jamie (Lindsay) and her three grandchildren Emilie, Lauren and Colin, who were the light of her life, simply as Honey . All will miss her dearly. Donna had a great love of interior decorating and design and leaves behind a truly beautiful family home that she adored. A great follower of current events and an exceptional cook, it was rare to come into that home and not hear the familiar sounds of either CNN or the Food Channel on the kitchen television. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to staff at Victoria Hospice for their warmth, generosity and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospice Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My Grandmother died was quite young, in fact, I don't have any memories of her. But my family has always painted a vibrant picture of Donna. She was a graceful woman in elegant clothing. She never dared to travel without a hair in place. Despite never witnessing the person I grew into she's gifted me many things. My slavic cheekbones originating from the icy streets of Ukraine, little earrings and pearls, and the sort of independence you only find in a exceptionally determined girl. Now I am thirteen but her spirit is resting in me. I can feel it. Perhaps that's why they call me an old soul. - Posted by: Lauren Elmhirst (Grand-daughter) on: Oct 06, 2022
