Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) BERNARD ROBERT JANSEN December 27, 1927 - December 7, 2011 Peacefully on December 7, 2011, at Seven Oaks Hospital, John passed away at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his parents John and Grace Jansen, sister Pat MacKenzie, and daughter Gaylene Heather Betker. He is survived by his daughter Debbie Leiter (Larry), son Jack Jansen (Debbie), daughter Lisa McKay, granddaughters Carrie Einarson (David), Ashley Jansen (Jordon), Jennifer Cipriano (Bryan), Hollie McKay, Gaylynn Betker, Amber Betker, grandsons, Chad Betker (Cathy), and Brad Betker (Cara), great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Isabelle, Grace and Ryan Einarson, Madison, Hailey and Bennet Betker, and Luca Cipriano, brother-in-law Doug MacKenzie, nephews, Gord MacKenzie (Deb), Ken MacKenzie, and niece Patti Reed (Steve). Jack worked for MTS for 38 years, missing only 10 days of work due to a car accident. He was a lifetime Telephone Pioneer. He was an enthusiastic fisherman who loved his family and friends. When John retired he enjoyed his time in Hemet, CA and at the lake in Grand Marais. John was a very strong individual who fought through a number of health issues. He was innovative and always provided a sense of wonder and great fun for his family. John was a dedicated, loving father who raised his four children with pride and joy. He will be sadly missed. Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Donations can be made to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9.
