LAURENT (PETE) VIEVILLE With sadness we announce the passing of Pete, peacefully at home on December 6, 2011 at the age of 80. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 51 years, Joyce; daughter Coleen (Dennis Sworyk) Vieville and grandsons, Joe and Andy; son Robert and grandson Jesse; son Richard (Chim); sisters, Vivian Skyba, Lucille Armstrong (Henry); brother Roger (Mary Ann); brother-in-law Don Burke (late Joanne), cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alma and Louis and daughter Laurel. Pete was born on January 3, 1931 in St. Boniface. He began his working life early as a young man working at his father's lumber camp in Richer, Manitoba. He drove transport for many years before working as a building mover with his father where he acquired the skills he needed to open his own moving business. He owned and operated L.J. Vieville Building and Machinery Movers until 1981. His working life continued with Arnold Brothers Transport, where he was employed for many years. Up until the last few months he remained active working at his commercial property, renting office space and service bays. Pete and Joyce married and together they raised their four children. Grandsons, Joe, Andy and Jesse made their lives complete. He looked forward to visits with the boys, taking interest in all aspects of their lives, especially their sports, music and academic achievements. They enjoyed his company, and cared for him deeply. A memorial service, officiated by Henry Armstrong and Pastor Greg Armstrong, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9.
