ERIC GREEN 1920 2011 After an amazing life, a positive inspiration to others and a wonderful man, Eric Green, formerly of Ottawa, passed away at home in Vancouver on Saturday, December 3, 2011. Fondly remembered by family and friends, he will be missed by wife Sylvia Holloway Green (nee Phelps) of Vancouver, daughter Naomi Green Fowlie (Grant), grandchildren Adrienne Fowlie Larocque (Sylvain) and Kent Fowlie, all of Ottawa. Also will be missed by stepdaughters Pamela Holloway of Vancouver, Jean Holloway (Jim Currie) of Calgary, niece Jacqueline Henry (Ron Schwartz) of Toronto, brother-in-law Robert Holloway (Carol) of Winnipeg, and many other relatives. Predeceased by his first wife, Nina Agnes Holloway. During the 1940s he was seconded from the British Admiralty to the U.S. government where he lived in New York for several years. In 1947 he moved to Ottawa where he accepted a position with the National Research Council. Besides his brilliant mind as an engineer, mathematician and physicist who held patents for his inventions, he was an entrepreneur who established a metrology engineering company. An avid skier, he was one of the founders of Calabogie Peaks. In addition, he was a long time cottager at Lake Pemichangan and member of the Gatineau Fish and Game Club. In lieu of flowers, and to recognize Eric's appreciation of the arts, donations to the Bells Corners Academy of Music, Attention Yves Laroche, Nepean Creative Arts Centre, 35 Stafford Road, Unit 11, Ottawa, ON K2H 8V8 (613) 596-5783 would be appreciated.
