SHELDON NICHOLOUS KOSTENKO Passing suddenly December 3, 2011, Sheldon Kostenko (1978 2011) will be greatly missed by his mother (Louise) and father (Nick), twin sister Sandra (Roy) and niece Jaiden, and his extended family (Suski; Moergastel and Van Lieshout) throughout Canada and the Netherlands. Sheldon was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Windsor Park and graduated from Windsor Park Collegiate in 1996. He had a large circle of good friends and was actively involved in his community. An avid sports and fitness enthusiast, Sheldon was a talented hockey player who last played for St. Boniface Riels junior hockey team. His parents were very proud and attended his hockey games with great enthusiasm. Sheldon's love of sports continued with participation in recreational/sponge hockey, baseball and golf. He was an avid Blue Bomber fan, and stayed true blue to the team through good years and bad. When not at a Bomber game, Sheldon and friends would be watching NFL football on Sunday afternoons. He rejoiced with his city with the return of the Jets NHL hockey to Winnipeg. Sheldon lived his life large, enjoyed travelling and visiting with family and friends, and will be remembered as a caring, fun-loving, adventurous and generous individual. Celebrations with both family and friends were an important and welcome part of Sheldon's life, never missing important gatherings and holidays. Family and friends will miss him and keep a place in their hearts. We are going to miss his smiling face and remember that kid who always made time to sit down, talk with everyone and let people know he genuinely cared what was going on in their lives. In recent years Sheldon worked as a supported living counsellor for people with disabilities, and he cared a great deal about working to improve opportunities for citizens of all abilities to live in their home community. Sheldon's family extends their appreciation to all who have called with condolences and their support. A private family service will be held. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
