ALVIN EARL RICHARDSON On November 17, 2011, Alvin Earl (Al) Richardson of Sherwood Park, passed away at the age of 88. Al is survived by his loving family: wife Doreen; daughter Dr. Cindy Jo of Winnipeg; sons, Craig (Sherry) of Athabasca, Scott of Sherwood Park, Ross (Julie) of Sherwood Park; grandchildren, Cole, Gareth, Brent, Keagan, Haley, Emily and Matthew; stepmother Elinor Richardson of Victoria. Al was born in Elphinstone, Manitoba in 1922. Following high school he served in the R.C.A.F. four years during the Second World War. Following discharge he obtained a BScAg degree at the University of Manitoba. Al was employed as an Agricultural Editor with the Winnipeg Tribune and spent 30 years as a commentator with CBC in Winnipeg, Ottawa and Edmonton, as well as seconded to F.A.O. of U.N. to establish rural broadcasting services in Caribbean countries. He served as Director of Communications for Alberta Economic Development and as Regional Director for Canadian Scholarship Trust Fund. At Al's request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place. He will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated, kind, generous father and grandfather. He will be missed by all. Al's family would like to thank Hardisty Nursing Home and the Sherwood Park Care Centre for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Society.
