Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN BEATRICE JOHANNESSON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (Evelyn) Beatrice Johannesson on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the age of 79 at the Arborg District Health Center. Beloved wife of the late Gudjon (Johnny) Johannesson. Beatrice was born in Geysir, Manitoba, on February 8, 1932, to Evelyn and Jonas Jonasson. She married Johnny on September 23, 1955, and together they raised their family in Riverton. Beatrice was a hard worker her whole life and saved for things the family needed to purchase. One of her most loved jobs was working with home care. She enjoyed helping people in need and talked about this with much enthusiasm. She loved music and her children can recall her playing the piano, accordion and yodeling (when teased to do so) in the old house on King Street. The Saturday Night Polka Party was a weekly ritual in the Johannesson household. Beatrice listened to this faithfully right until her passing. She also worked with Johnny in the family business and doing this together made them the couple that we will always remember; Johnny was the love of her life. Her children, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren brightened her days. Beatrice is survived by her children, Beverly (John), Lorne, Louis (Debbie), Joe (Michelle), Kelly (Mike); her grandchildren, Tracy (Kelly), Jonathan (Pat), Melanie, Devon, Misty (Ryan), Lindsay, Marnie, and Caitlin: and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Morgan, Denali, Madisyn, and Mercedes; brothers, Steini (Elva), Einar (Elsie), and Raymond (Faye); sister-in-laws, Dorothy, Sella, Begga, Darlene (Elert), Gudrun and Barbara. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnny; son Elvin; her parents; sister Gudrun (Sigurjon); brothers Jonas (Agnes), Baldwin and Bjorgvin; sister-in-laws Kristine (Hugh); brother-in-laws Kris, Donald, Siggi and Laugi; nephews Greg, Mark, Brent, Wayne and Trevor; and niece Lori. She was an extremely courageous lady, more then I bet she even thought possible. The family would like to thank all of the Home Care workers and the Health Care staff at the hospital during Mom's stay. You helped Mom during her greatest time of need and allowed her to maintain dignity, and the family will forever be grateful to you all. At Beatrice's request, the family wishes to advise that cremation and a private family burial will take place on Monday. A coffee will be held for family and friends at the Fellowship Circle in Riverton on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trevor Jonasson Memorial Pilot fund at www.trevorjonasson.com. Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven. Where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us, to let us know they are happy. Goda nott elskan Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli and Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
