She was born to the late Russell and Annie Elford, June 10, 1921, near Horse Creek, Saskatchewan. Eva married the late Walter E. McCutcheon on October 23, 1940. In their early life together they resided in various parts of Saskatchewan, moved to Carmen, Manitoba, in 1950, and eventually settled in Portage la Prairie in 1959. Eva was a devoted wife to Walter and loving mother to her eight children. She delighted in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eva cooked and managed the family restaurant that she and Walter operated in Carmen alongside their dairy business. She gladly helped out with Walter's real estate office in Portage, and later worked with him on their retirement farm. She faithfully cooked for Camp Jubilee for some 20 years, getting to know and be loved by hundreds of children in Portage and area. Later in her life she volunteered her cooking abilities at the Herman Prior Centre and canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She was a very active member of the Church of Christ, worshiped for the last many years at Crescent Heights Chapel, and also participated in the local chapter of the Gideons. She will be remembered for her hospitality, her warmth, and her unwavering Christian faith. Eva is survived by seven children, Gerald (and Muriel) McCutcheon of Portage; Ellen (and Ray) McMillan of Regina; Earnest (and Elsie) McCutcheon of Calgary; Thelma McCutcheon of Portage; Ronald (and Ella) McCutcheon of Kelowna; Richard McCutcheon (and Tamara Fleming) of Winnipeg; and Walter (and Sally) McCutcheon of St. Joseph, Michigan. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren (with one more on the way); and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her great-grandchild Gerald Thomas McCutcheon in 1976; her parents, Russell and Annie, in 1978, and 1979; her husband, Walter, in 1983; her great-grandchild Nathan Leif McMillan in 1998, and her daughter Lauraine Edna Fox in 2006. The family requests that memorial donations be directed to Heartwarmers Ministries, Central Plains Cancer Care, or Gideons. A viewing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16 at Crescent Heights Chapel (1745 Saskatchewan Avenue West). A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 at the Herman Prior Senior Services Centre (40 Royal Road North).
