LYSANDER NEIL CROSS February 24, 1970 - December 12, 2011 On December 12, 2011, Lysander Neil Cross passed away at 41 years of age after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was brave and a gentleman throughout his journey. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Bonnie and their two children Tyler (12) and Reanna (nine). He will be dearly missed by his parents, Murray and Paulina Cross of Parkland, AB as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by Bonnie's parents Bob and Irene Cunningham and his brother-in-law Rob (Jean) Cunningham of Winnipeg and extended family. Lysander was born in Winnipeg, MB. He attended University of Manitoba where he received his Computer Science Degree. Lysander was gifted in so many ways. He was brilliant with computers and had a love of learning and a zest for life. He was also very creative and loved music, playing guitar, composing and recording his own creations, gardening, photography and doing crafts and woodworking with his children. Since 1993 Lysander worked at Telvent and remained a loyal employee until his diagnosis. At that time he was forced to take disability while he underwent treatment. During his years at Telvent, Lysander changed his role several times. He had a love of learning and liked to be challenged. Throughout his career, he travelled extensively and made lifelong friends. From the time he made Calgary his home, Lysander took great pleasure in mountain biking and hiking in the mountains with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and was known for his spontaneous day trips. Lysander was also very involved in his church. He played guitar on occasion and was known for his dedication to operating the sound system for Sunday services and special events. Family was very important to Lysander. He was a loving and caring husband, father, son and friend. He will be missed by all those who knew him. The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and support for Lysander throughout his illness. A very special thanks to the doctors, nurses and entire support team. Memorial service to celebrate Lysander's life will be held at Bonavista Evangelical Missionary Church (1509 Lake Ontario Drive S.E., Calgary) on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Murray Swalm officiating.
