LAURA BLAIR It is with great sadness that we announce Laura Katherine Blair passed away peacefully at home in Sherwood Park, Alberta, in her sleep. She was 87 years old. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kathryn (Mel) Colbert and Karen (Mike) Lefebvre; and her grandchildren, Charles and Sean. She will also be missed by a number of friends across the nation, especially by Anne Curtis; they had been friends for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, in 1978; her brother, Bill; and her sisters, Verna, Fern and Joan. Laura lived her life to the fullest and worked hard all of her life. She was born in Rossmore, Ontario, on February 13, 1924. She served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a supply technician during the war. After the war ended, she met her husband, Gordon, at a dance at the base. She moved to Manitoba, in 1958, and lived there primarily for over 50 years. When she retired from Campbell's Soup in 1989, she began the next adventure of her life: loving grandmother. She joined Karen, Mike and their son, Charles, in Halifax. She was devoted to both Charles and his brother Sean, who was born in Halifax. She continued to be an integral part of their lives until her passing. She had many hobbies. She could be seen frequently working on a crossword, knitting in her favourite chair, and she would read every day. In the last year, she began reading on an e-reader, and enjoyed it very much. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and bingo with her friends and family. The family would like to thank the emergency personnel who attended to her with care and respect. In accordance with her wishes, a private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laura's name can be made to the Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
