GEORGE O'STAFF With deep sadness we announce the passing of our dad, Grandpa, and brother, George O'Staff on December 15, 2011 at St. Boniface Hospital. After a brief struggle with bone cancer, Dad was comforted by his family daily and died peacefully in the presence of his Grandson Jordan. Throughout his life, and during the last three months, Dad remained optimistic, always seeing the good in everything. Dad accepted his illness with grace and dignity and continued to keep a positive attitude; telling stories and jokes, and always wanting to know how our families were doing. Dad was a kind and caring man with a huge heart and a gentle soul. Dad is survived by his first wife Mary, children, and grandchildren, son Alan, daughters Bev (John), Jordan, Erin (Dave), Terri-Lee (Dean), Kyle, Mark, Eric, Donna (Doug), Chad, Chantelle, sisters Mary (Richard), Marge (Orest), Elsie (Bill), sister-in-law Edith and many nieces and nephews. Dad worked hard all his life. He began his career in Winnipeg as a buyer for Eaton's mail order for 27 years until they closed. He then joined his sons in Calgary to work in the construction business. Dad continued working for himself in Winnipeg, framing basements for Sterling homes and Life Style homes until his retirement in 1991. Dad was fortunate to meet and share a wonderful life with Madlen. Together they spent many winters in Las Vegas and travelled throughout the US and Europe. Dad loved sharing many stories of his travels. In the last 10 years Dad loved his Sunday suppers with his daughter Bev (John) and trips to Beausejour to see his daughter Terri-Lee (Dean). He always picked up mom and together they spent the day visiting family. He also loved his daily calls from his son, Al. We are so happy to have those wonderful memories. Dad had a special relationship with our Mom, Mary O'Staff. She was there every day by his side throughout his illness and Dad was very appreciative of this time together. Dad is predeceased by his son Ron, his second wife Madlen and brothers Lorne and Johnny. We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 4E, 6AS for the wonderful care given to dad. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to CancerCare or the Canadian Diabetes Association. A celebration of George's life will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
