GORDON JOSEPH MATENCHUK It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our father Gordon Joseph Matenchuk on December 17, 2011. Gordie fought a courageous battle with cancer for several months. Gordie was born January 3, 1943 and lived in Winnipeg all his life. He was educated at LaVerendrye School, Earl Grey Junior High and Kelvin High School. He also attended the University of Manitoba. He later worked for Canada Safeway, Dominion Stores and I.G.A. in the produce department. As a young man Gordie enjoyed buying vintage cars and restoring them. He shared this interest with his brothers and later his son, Dusty. His favourite car was his 59 Vett which he restored to mint shape. That car was his pride and joy. Later in his life Gordie met Judy. They had two children together, Autumn Day and Dustin Joseph. They all lived in an unconventional way, but the love and loyalty for each other was perfectly clear. Gordie was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Annette; his brothers Murray and Clifford and, sadly, his beloved wife Judy. Left to cherish his memory are his children Autumn and Dusty; his sister Joanne; niece Jodi, and nephews Joel and Shaun. Gordie was a good man who has many friends, he lived life to the fullest everyday with few to no regrets. We love you man. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Following, there will be a lunch at West Kildonan Legion, 1748 Main St.
