Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA MARGARET MARYNUK January 13, 1931 - December 13, 2011 It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. Verna is predeceased by her husband, Peter; parents, Jean and Robert Laurie; brother Gordon; and sister Mina. Verna will be sadly missed by her children, Peter, Jeff (Linda), Carla (Gerry); her grandchildren, Dawna (Matt), Brett, Tristan, Tanner, Danielle; and her great-grandchildren, Chandelle and Caidyn. Verna was born in Winnipeg, and lived part of her childhood in Dugald, Manitoba. She attended Gordon Bell High School and experienced great success as a student and as an athlete in track and field, specializing in the hurdles. Upon graduation she began working as a skilled seamstress at Jacob and Crowley and sewing became one of her passions. Afterwards, she became a proprietor within the fashion industry and owned two clothing stores in Winnipeg. Verna finished her career as a manager within women's fashion at D'Allairds. Upon retirement, you could find Verna spending countless hours with her husband Peter in their beautiful backyard attending to their vegetables and flowers. Family has always been important to Verna and she loved to celebrate special times and events with an Irish flair, entertaining, dancing and celebrating life. She loved animals and will be missed by her Pomeranian, Minnie. Verna had a heart of gold and she was a very caring woman who looked after many people less fortunate than herself that needed her love and support. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at The Woman's Hospital 5th floor and the staff at Poseidon Care Centre for their excellent care and compassion. There will be a celebration of Verna's life on Thursday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue.

Dearest Mom-in-law, I really miss you. The other day I was shopping around and came upon these beautiful types of rings you used to wear and I almost bought one thinking I must buy you one and remembered you are no longer with us. I started to cry and all the memories came flooding in all at once. I know you are safe in God's arms and we never forget you, Jeff and I still grieve over you. We love you and you will be in our hearts forever. - Posted by: Linda Marynuk (My Mother-in-law) on: Jan 10, 2012
