BENJI AVERBACK Harold Benjamin (Benji) Averback passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, December 15, 2011 at the age of 59. He is survived by his wife Tina, children Jonathan and Desiree, and brothers David and Paul. Benji was a kind man, a devoted husband and parent to his beloved Tina, Jonathan and Desiree, a hard working, good provider and a loyal, great friend in so many ways. To love Ben came easily to so many people, for he was generous in spirit, a happy, helpful, humorous, sympathetic, sincere and endearing person who had an innate and pleasing curiosity about our world. He was the purest definition of a guy who was always fun. Benji was a man of authentic dignity and immense understated emotional strength. He faced this last challenge with extraordinary inner poise, and was no less than an amazing inspiration to so many of us. Benji left us far too soon. We will continue to celebrate his life every day. At Benji's request there will be no funeral service. There will be a private service for immediate family, and later a memorial celebration of Benji's life will be held with friends and family on January 22, 2012 in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice. Condolences can be sent to the family at: condolencesbenjiaverback@gmail.com

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I've been made aware of the loss of Sky through our mutual friend, Dan Diamond. Sky was unusually kind, fair-minded, and had a clarity of judgement that was all his own. It made him loyal, and remarkably graceful. I'm very sorry for your loss, which must be very great. - Posted by: Margaret Sweatman (School-years friend. ) on: Dec 30, 2011

  • Dear David, Paul, Tina and family. My family lived next door to the Averback's in Gimil the summers of 1970/71. The 3 teanage Averback boys were wonderful to my 4 little girls, as were their parents. I have nothing but wonderful memories of that time. Sincere condolences on your great loss. - Posted by: CAROL FRANK WOODWARD (FRIEND FROM GIMILI) on: Dec 24, 2011

  • Benji was a friendly and warm person. His smile made it easy to be around him.He worked hard and was a success at what he set out to do. - Posted by: David and Lois Wolch (family friends) on: Dec 23, 2011
