WALTER LAMIRANDE It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Walter L. Lamirande (Batch) on December 19, 2011 at his residence in Grand Rapids, Manitoba, at the age of 49 years. Besides his common-law wife Wanda Thomas, Walter is survived by his son, Devon LeClair and stepdaughter Lexi Thomas. Batch was born in The Pas, Manitoba on October 28, 1962 and he was adopted by his grandparents, Ida and William Lamirande in 1964. Batch also kept a close relationship with his biological mother Myrtle and his brothers and sisters. He loved to share stories about his life experiences to make people around him laugh and he was a people-person who made people feel so at ease around him. Batch was respectful and very kind to everyone he met; he touched many lives and made many friends throughout his travels. He leaves to mourn his passing his grandma Ida Lamirande; his sisters, Racheal Campbell, Anita Campbell, Loretta Boulard (Andy), Janice Lamirande, Rhonda Malik (Andrew); his brothers, Ron Campbell, Russell Campbell, Clifford Lamirande (Candy) and Brian Lamirande. Walter also leaves to mourn numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Walter was predeceased by his mom Myrtle Campbell; his grandpa Bill Lamirande; his uncle Ernie Lamirande; brother-in-law Ron Campbell; and aunt Vera Chrupalo. Viewing will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. with Prayers to commence at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, with Father Robert Bernardin officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. 586-8044

Prayers will be said on Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m. with viewing commencing at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. A longer obituary notice will follow in Tuesday's edition. 586-8044

  • As a friend, we shared years of experiences, from being one of my best men at our wedding to being roommates at my house on Lansdowne Ave. He was always a postive role model and touched everyone's life in always a positive way.   • Batch and I used to go hunt rabbits when we were younger in the day time and hunt for scrunt at night! The best one he always would say my name Wally alcock that was his opening line and it would work some of the time. he always made jokes and made people laugh! myself and batch had alot of fun in the days when he lived in the complex with his grandma and uncle; vry nice people!!
