JOACHIM CARL SCHALLMANN March 23, 1935 - December 17, 2011 After a life well lived, Joachim passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with family by his side on the morning of Saturday, December 17, 2011. He is survived by and is greatly missed by his wife, RoseMary; his children, Astrid (Leslie), Genevieve (Robert), Tyson (Kirsten), and Justin (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Isabelle, Lukas, and Elizabeth; sister, Ruth (Heinz) and brother, Harold; nieces Ruth-Anne and Christine; mother-in-law, Rita, and brother-in-law, Charles (Marilyn). Those who know him best will always fondly remember his sense of humour, love of sports, his story telling and gentle heart. His love of sports was evident through his numerous years of involvement in youth sports as soccer coach and convener for the St. Boniface/ St. Vital district and with the Flames Soccer Association. In his retirement years, he especially enjoyed his frequent visits to the Southdale McDonald's restaurant to visit and share stories with many good friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vee Adolf for her support and special care that she provided to Joachim. At his request for no formal funeral service, a small private family gathering has been held to celebrate Joachim's life. Condolences can be forwarded via email to Joachim.schallmann@gmail.com.
