MURIEL DELLEVOET The creative, inventive and resilient Muriel (Hopcraft, Martz) Dellevoet died peacefully in her sleep on Christmas Day, December 25, 2011. She will be remembered through her caregiving and caretaking as a highly responsible person who, at the same time, took great personal risks. Predeceased by both husbands, Robert Martz and Jan Dellevoet, Nanos will be recalled fondly by daughter Marlene Milne (Don) and grandchildren Ian and Nicole, along with other family members and friends. Born in Brandon, MB in 1917 she lived out the First World War in England, her youth in Chicago, and her adulthood in rural Manitoba. She finally took root in Winnipeg, from which base she travelled to many places. Her birthday and special event cakes were the highlight of a wide variety of parties. Special thanks from our family go to all the caring staff at Beacon Hill Lodge. If any of the persons whose lives she touched so positively wish to donate, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, 300 Memorial Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1V1 or the Alzheimer Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 are possibilities. Cremation and interment have taken place and further notice will be given to family, as available.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Muriel was the kindest friend that my mother, Madelene had during the Christ Memorial Days of the 50's and 60's. She was an inspiration to all of us and her example of motherhood was outstanding. I remember her as creative, intelligent and having a sense of humour. I remember one Hallowe'en after all the kids had made their rounds and there was no more candy left, she got into her kitty costume and knocked on the front door of her house....and when Bob answered, he did not recognize her as she insisted he give her a treat that she knew he didn't have! She had a great time afterward telling everyone about the trick she played on dear Bob!! Those were the days.........Marlene, you now have another guardian angel looking after you. Take care.
