MARGARET GERTRUDE REIMER In the early morning of December 30, 2011 Margaret Reimer, beloved wife of Edgar Reimer and mother of Bruce, Rick (Laura) and Ken (Shauna), peacefully went to be with her Lord in Heaven with her family surrounding her. Margaret was born January 18, 1933 in Winkler to Andrew and Judith Sobering. She grew up in many one-room school houses with her older sisters, Madeline (Clarence Reimer) and Marianne (Don Canfield), whom she greatly admired. After training to be a teacher like her father, Margaret married Edgar in 1957 and they immediately departed for Grand Rapids, where they both taught in a two room school for a year and assisted in the work of the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission until Bruce was born. They moved to Anola where Margaret taught so that Edgar could complete his university degree, and they made their life in Southdale since. She was devoted to Edgar, her sons and Jesus, and this was evident in everything she did. In many ways, she inspired us. Margaret will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family, including her seven grandchildren, Graham (Danielle Sawatzky), Jayne, Jill, Jenna and Carli, Karina and Andrew, her nieces and nephews, and her Reimer brother-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Devotional at 8:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. A private interment will have taken place prior to the Service at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Virginia Reimer for her love and support to all of us and to the health care workers at St. Boniface Hospital and at Tache Centre, who made these last weeks so much more bearable and dignified with their loving care. Thanks also to Joelle Gauthier for her weekly care through most of the last five years. We also thank Art and Susie Kehler and Ed and Audrey Wilson for their steadfast friendship and love! Flowers are gratefully declined. In memory of Margaret's love of books friends wishing, may donate to the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church (Church Library), 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2J 4J1. We will miss Margaret, but her faith has strengthened all of us and we are better for having known her love. Well done, good and faithful servant, enter now into your rest. Matthew 25:23 Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

  • The strength of character of your sons is a testament to the kind of woman that Margaret was... Truly, well done. We will continue to make awesome chocolate chip cookies and delicious beans from your recipes (which we lovingly call REIMER BEANS); your love of laughter and kidding sense of humour will live on. You will be missed, but we know you are now with the Lord...that crown He is putting on your head is going to be a heavy, glittery one! With much love, respect, and admiration... - Posted by: Margo and Tim (relatives by choice) on: Jan 04, 2012
