MURIEL PEARL DOHERTY (nee BROOKS) On Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Muriel Pearl Doherty, beloved wife of the late Orville (Bud) Hammond Doherty, passed away at the age of 78 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend John Zondag officiating. A family interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Wednesday evening, January 4, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Pearl Brooks; husband Orville (Bud) Doherty; son Lesley; grandchild Kienan Kitching; brothers Allan Brooks and Robert in infancy; brother-in-law Steve Michaluk, she leaves to mourn her passing sons Allan (Beth) Doherty and Sidney (Vicky) both of Portage la Prairie; daughters Hazel (Wayne) Ostopowich, of Rossendale, MB and Diane (Sandy) Kitching of Portage la Prairie; 26 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Rolly (Bunny) Brooks of Oakville, MB, and Doug (Carol) Brooks of Portage la Prairie, MB; three sisters, Jean Michaluk of Winnipeg, MB, May (Doug) Garnham of Portage and Doreen (Norman) Hildebrand of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law Dianne Doherty of Portage la Prairie; sister-in-law Martha Brooks of Portage la Prairie, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Research Society INC., 200 Isabella St., Suite 305, Ottawa, ON K1S 9Z9 or to the Sunset Palliative Care, Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A7.
