Among my many memories, my most cherished one of Uncle Mike is of a summer day on which my Dad was driving a carload of us, including Uncle Mike, to Silver to my Baba's farm. The road was very winding in places & I remember wondering out loud why they didn't just cut a straight path through the countryside when the road was being built. Uncle Mike, sitting next to me, without missing a beat or cracking a smile, hit the nail on the head with his quick retort: A drunken road worker said to his road crew "follow me" and, as this workman staggered unsteadily, in a winding fashion, so the road between Teulon and Silver came to be. I was only about 9 or 10 at the time but each and every time I subsequently traveled that road I, without exception, remembered that incredible insight of Uncle Mike's observation. It struck me as hilarious at the time he made it, and still does to this day. Rest in Peace, Uncle Mike . . . Love, Pat - Posted by: Pat Murdock (Niece) on: Jan 04, 2012
