Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILIAN JANE KING (nee SANGER) June 19, 1916 - December 30, 2011 On December 30, 2011 at the Riverview Health Centre, after a short battle with cancer, our Mother went to be with her Lord at the age of 95 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Judy (Irvine) Johnson, son Gary (Eva) King of Winnipeg, daughter Debbie (Derek) Thorvaldson of Kelowna, BC, daughter-in-law Joanne, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; also sisters-in-law Irene Wood of Vancouver, Anne Johnson of Winnipeg and brother-in-law Lionel (Gloria) Johnson of California. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, parents George and Ellen Sanger, sisters and brothers-in-law Nell (Herman) Johnson and Mary (Ken) Lessard, two infant grandsons and in February 2011 eldest son David. Lilian was born in Winnipeg on June 19, 1916. Her parents were from Wales and when she was four and her sister was six the family returned to Wales for four years where her younger sister was born. They returned to Winnipeg where she lived a long and happy life. Jack and Lil were devoted Christians and attended the Church of Christ. They met at church as teens and at age 19 she married her love on November 9, l935. They lived in Winnipeg all of their lives, in Fort Rouge and River Heights. When Jack retired they enjoyed many winter visits with family and friends in Texas, Arizona and California. A much loved and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother she was interested in the details and accomplishments of her family. Lil had a strong faith and a positive outlook. She was able to be independent and lived in her own apartment until September when her health deteriorated. She had a good sense of humour and enjoyed family times. She was also interested in world events and kept on top of things from TV when her failing eyesight made reading difficult. We are blessed to have had her for our mother. Our family wishes to extend a thank you to Palliative Care nurse Lousie Dansereau, the homecare workers and the Riverview Palliative Care nurses and staff for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m., at the Church of Christ, 170 St. Mary's Road with Minister Wayne Turner officiating In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre, re Palliative Care Program, 1 Morley Ave. E., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 9Z9, or a charity of choice THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
