GILBERT MICHEAL BILOUS Gilbert passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the age of 81. Dad, a twin, was born in Winnipeg on November 21, 1930. His family moved to Ste. Rose du Lac during the Depression, where he spent his formative years and met Anita before returning to Winnipeg to raise their young family. Dad was a brilliant man with a sharp sense of humour and a quick wit. He was hard working and proud of his profession as a carpenter, and he believed whole heartedly that no one ever died from a hard day's work. His passion in life was for the great outdoors, and he looked forward to the fall when he would head out on hunting trips with his friends and his boys. Dad was a presence in everyone's lives: larger than life, a man with a big heart who gave more than he got. Dad will be fondly remembered as a fan of Country music and for his love of animals, his giving nature, and most importantly for his love of family. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 56 years, Anita (nee Marion) and beloved children, Keith (Lori), Donna (Tom), Brenda, Clayton (Viola), Linda, and Kevin (Debbie). He also leaves 16 wonderful grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gilbert's life will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. W. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Wheeler Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements: 204-224-1525.
