STEWART MAKINSON Peacefully on December 22, 2011 at St. Boniface Hospital, Stewart Makinson passed away at age 78. Stewart was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Jean Makinson, and beloved wife Edith and brother Jimmy. He will be sadly missed by his five children Keith (Rose), Glen (Gwen), Rick (Debbie), Randy (Kathy), and Deb (Metro), his eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, also his brother Ernie and wife Effie. Stewart was born and raised in the North end of Winnipeg, and at a young age developed a keen interest for tinkering with cars. In his spare time and on the weekends, up until his 50s you could find him under the hood of his car. In his 60s he took up a new hobby, golfing, which quickly became more like an obsession. He had his golfing buddies that he played with every Tuesday and the foursome he played with on the weekends. In the winter, you could find him hitting golf balls in his living room. He was a remarkable man that lived on his own terms. He showed strength and love right up to his last days. The family would like to thank the staff at St.Boniface Hospital for all their special care. A private memorial service to celebrate his life was held on Wednesday December 28, 2011, at Cropo Funeral Chapel in Winnipeg, MB. with interment followed at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. May you find everlasting peace now that you are reunited with your loving wife Edith.

  • I worked with Stu from 1973-1979 at the Steel Service Centre. He was always happy and was liked by all. We send our heartfelt condolences at a very difficult time. - Posted by: Mrs. Georgina Jones (co-worker from Dominion Bridge) on: Jan 09, 2012
