Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN IBBOTT Jean Ibbott left us peacefully on the morning of January 10, 2012 at the age of 96. Jean is survived by son Claude (Lou-Ellen); daughter Judy (Gary Quinton); granddaughters Hillary (Troy Neiszner), Whitney (Chris Love), Carolyn (Lawrence Germain), Jill (Jason McVicar), and great-grandchildren Autumn, Holland, Jasper, Winter, Quinn, Bradley and Owen; as well as sister Rose Ruppenthal. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Claude, her sisters Mary Stefanko, Helen Wellis, and brother Tony Wallis. Jean was born in Winnipeg on January 3, 1916, the youngest of five children born to Anna and Nicholas Willis. Jean graduated from St. John's High School. She was married to Claude in 1938 and they bought a home on Morley Avenue. Claude Jr. was born in 1940 and Jean brought up her son while Claude Sr. was away serving in the R.C.A.F. Daughter Judith was born after the war and the family moved to Clare Avenue. Jean was active with St. Alban's Church Guild and she enjoyed square dancing and badminton. She was a natural with crafts and was an accomplished knitter, dressmaker and cook. Jean's home was always open to the neighbourhood kids. After school, her rumpus room was often packed with people playing ping pong and billiards. When her children were grown, she joined her husband at Mitchell-Copp Jewellers where they had many happy years working together. They loved their Jets hockey and their cottage at Great Falls. The cottage was the site of many great memories including catching trophy fish, enjoying wonderful family gatherings and games of golf. The grandchildren remember fondly their guest house where they could play dress up with Nana's costume jewelry, hats and heels. She always showed her love best feeding the family delicious meals around her dining room table. Jean was extremely skilled at cards and routinely trounced Poppa and the family at cribbage. Jean took great pride in the accomplishments of her son and daughter and her grandchildren. Jean and Claude Sr. enjoyed traveling and visited Europe, Hawaii, Florida, and Palm Desert. Jean moved into Rosewood Village in 1999 and to Riverview Health Centre in 2011. Jean leaves us with sad hearts, but with a treasure trove of fond memories. Thanks to the staff at both Rosewood Village and Riverview Health Centre for your care. A private family service will be held in the summer.

What a wonderfully long, fulfilling and productive life! I still have fond memories of Jean's delicious cheese and bacon melt brunches with Judy, Jean and Claude after Church at St. Alban's over 40 years ago. I am sure Claude is delighted that they are together again! - Posted by: Stan Pearce (old friend of Judy) on: Jan 15, 2012
