Born: May 24, 1916
Date of Passing: Dec 27, 2011
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANE GLEESON (nee IVY ROSE NORTH) Peacefully, in her sleep on December 27, 2011 at Vista Park Lodge, Jane passed away at the age of 95 years. Born on May 24, 1916, in Birmingham, England, she is survived by daughters, Anna and Margaret (Greg); granddaughter Taylor; and son John. Jane lived in England throughout the Second World War. Just after the war ended, she was posted with the United Nations in Germany, where she lived and worked for about four years. She met our father Johnny, a British military officer, while employed there. Following her time in Germany, Jane emigrated to Canada and there married Johnny, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Mom was widowed in 1960. Her young son Mark died in an accident the following year. Subsequently, she returned to the work force. Amongst her employers in Winnipeg were Eatons, Apex Agencies and DeFehr Furniture, always in the accounts departments. Mom raised her children with love and care. She found fun in family holidays and travel to different spots often included some fishing which she really enjoyed. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to read. A favourite pastime was gardening and she spent many rewarding hours outside in the yard. Our dear Mom remained cheerful and happy in herself until the end of her long life. The wonderful staff at Vista Park Lodge are gratefully thanked for their kindness to our Mom, Jane. Cremation has taken place with interment planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Margaret I remember all the times we pushed your Mom's buttons - LOL. When we made that big cardboard box in your basement into our house, and your Mom couldn't believe we had spent all that time doing it. I lost touch with your Mom about 3 years ago - I wish I had known she was at Vista Park, my children go there once a week to spend time with the seniors. Best wishes to the whole family. - Posted by: Bonnie Camara (nee Bergmann) (Friend of the Family) on: Jan 23, 2012

I now live in B.C., but Tracey and Brent live in Calgary, and when they were very small, your mother baby sat them. They often would talk of the days so long ago,(50 years ago) when they used to play down the basement of your house in Windsor Park..She was a wonderful caring woman, and I know you will miss her.. - Posted by: Sherron McDonald (none) on: Jan 19, 2012

I would like to express my condolences to John, Anna and Margaret. Your mother was a wonderful Lady who always made me feel welcome and part of the family growing up, especially with her kind offer of a cup of tea with a warm smile. My love and Best Wishes to all of you. Ray - Posted by: Ray Stratton (Friend of John's and Family) on: Jan 17, 2012
