Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRUNO FISCHER 1932 - 2012 On Sunday, January 15, our beloved Bruno Fischer was called home. Left to celebrate his life are his wife Elli (Lee) Fischer; daughters, Christina (John), Korina (Stéphane); and grand-children, Nigel, Jonathan, Samuel and Sarah. Bruno also had a special place in the heart of numerous friends and relatives in North America, Australia and Europe. Bruno was an uncomplicated person who connected easily with people. He took pride in the achievements of his family and supported them lovingly throughout the years. Plumbing provided Bruno a good living. In retirement, he enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and peppers. Bruno was an avid composter and actively supported the Manitoba composting community. He delighted in summers at Camp Neustadt, dancing and playing table tennis. A Service of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Road on Thursday, January 19 at 10:30 a.m. The family would like to thank all those who supported them through the last leg of Bruno's journey. Floral tributes gratefully declined. Should you choose to celebrate his memory, please make a donation to the Lutheran Urban Ministry (641 St. Matthew's, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3G 0G6, Phone: 204-774-3143). And in all things give thanks. Sesame Street will not be the same without Bruno. I will miss seeing Bruno riding his bike, enjoying his summer with his grandchildren and just his wonderful personality. Our condolences to Lee, his girls, son-in-laws and grandchildren. - Posted by: Sandra & Rod Cline (Friend at Camp Neustadt) on: Mar 01, 2012

Bruno was a kind, thoughtful and life affirming man. He lived for the day and brought a zest to whatever challenged him. He loved to swim in the open waters of Lake Winnipeg, regardless of the temperature! - a trait that I respected. He loved his wife and daughters and extended family. They all made him smile. No doubt that right now he is asking what he can do to help.... - Posted by: Martin () on: Feb 01, 2012

We had the pleasure of meeting Korina’s Dad a few times in his visits to Quebec City. Truth be told that, as spirited and lively as Korina’s household can be, one can't argue with the fact that having her Dad in the house definitely brought it up a notch or two. It was truly great to enjoy his laughter and warm spirit. What a wonderful person he must have been to grow up with and love. We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Bruno’s family and friends. He will be deeply missed. But we do take confort in knowing that Bruno instilled in his family and loved ones the values, strength and unity to help carry such a regrettable loss. On pense à vous... - Posted by: Bruce and Sophie (Friends of Korina and her family) on: Jan 30, 2012

I remember your Dad's warm heart and sparkling eyes; he always had a friendly smile and enjoyed a good laugh. I especially remember during those early days at U of M where he worked; his knowing nods and presence there always lifted the spirit. His was a quiet wisdom. Love to you all, Glenys. - Posted by: Glenys Vanstone (friend of Christina) on: Jan 20, 2012

I knew Bruno from attending the same church, Gloria Dei Lutheran, for quite a few years. I always found Bruno to be quick to smile and always had something positive to say. He was a very proud father of his two lovely daughters, and a devoted husband to his wonderful wife, Lee. Bruno, you will be missed. My prayers are for Lee, the girls, and their families. Please take care. - Posted by: Karen Isleifson Buechler () on: Jan 18, 2012

Hello, I did not know Bruno Fischer personally, but I am a friend of his daughter Korina. Korina is a warm, generous, dedicated and optmistic person, and I am lucky to have her as a friend. I know this reflects how she was raised by her parents and the values Bruno transmitted to her. Korina, I am thinking about you. There are so many memories like the late night kanasta parties with my parents while us kids played downstairs and eventually fell asleep. As a kid, I was there for sleepovers, birthdays and many special occassions. I will always remember the amazing Boxing Day brunches, fun times at the lake and how I was always made to feel like part of the family. I love you all and I pray that God will provide you with the courage and strength that you need. I know how close you all were and that he will be greatly missed, but he lives in our hearts and our memories and I bet you my dad was there to greet him with open arms.
