She attended school to grade eleven, then went to teach on permit for one year before taking her grade twelve in Teulon, MB and Teachers College (Normal School) in Winnipeg. She taught several years at Cypress Valley School and met her husband Walter Diehl at that time. They were married July 14, 1952 and farmed in the area until they retired in 1980. They moved to Cranbrook BC, then later settled in ranching country at Bowden, Alberta. Predeceased by her husband Walter in January, 2002, she continued to live in her home for almost ten years until she was admitted to Innisfail hospital in October, 2011. Mom had a strong faith, attending Evangelical Missionary Church in Bowden in recent years as her health allowed. According to Elvina's wishes, cremation has taken place and ash interment will follow at a later time at Brookdale Cemetery, Holland, MB.
