Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH (JOE) FLISS On January 16, 2012, with his loving wife Sophie by his side, Joe passed away in the comfort of his own home. Born in Winnipeg on June 7, 1927, Joe will be remembered for his gentle ways, love of family, sense of humour and passion for golf. Joe started his career in the printing industry with National Publishers after which he went to work as Plant Manager with Trident Press until his retirement. Joe enjoyed the game of golf. He not only played the game, but also enjoyed spending time assisting family and friends. He was especially proud of his two hole-in-one's , both on Hole #12 at the St. Boniface Golf Course. His most favourite golf partner was his wife, Sophie. They golfed together as active members of both the St. Boniface Golf Club and Pine Ridge Golf Club for over 40 years. They also had occasions to golf away from home while on vacation. Predeceased by his parents, his brothers Stephen, Michael and Frank, and his sister Mary, Joe is survived by Sophie, his soul-mate and wife of 60 years and a loving circle of family and friends. Throughout his illness, Joe was blessed with compassionate care from so many caregivers. We are especially grateful to the Manitoba Palliative Care Program, Comforts of Home Care Inc., and the Seven Oaks and Concordia hospitals. To honour Joe, prayers and viewing will be held on Sunday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joe to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church or to a charity of your choice. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044

My brother, Guy, and I met your husband/father many times, while golfing at Pine Ridge with my father and Uncle Paul. I remember Mr. Fliss as always being a kind and gentle person. He always had a smile or shared a laugh or two. He was a good gentleman and he will be missed. - Posted by: Howard Zeaton (son of Frank, nephew of Paul- both were freinds of Mr. Fliss) on: Jan 21, 2012
