Walter will be dearly missed by wife Shirley, of 49 years; his daughter Brenda (Vic); grandchildren Brittney and Keaton; sister Olga (Orvil); brothers-in-law Terry (May), Don, Norman (Carole); sisters-in-law Doreen, Leslie (Ed), Marie, nieces, nephews and many friends. Walter was born in West St. Paul and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He was a loving husband and father. He worked until his retirement at Universal Printers. His backyard was his pride and joy where he spent countless hours gardening and maintaining his property. Other hobbies included camping, fishing with many friends and relatives. He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events throughout the years. His last few healthier years, going to his daughter's cabin in Kenora brought a smile to his face. She always had a project for him and he did it with pride and joy. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and especially Maples Personal Care Home for their care and support. According to Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date. In memory of Walter, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Shirley, Brenda & family. My prayers are with your family. I have very fond memories of the good times with Wally. Dancing, socializing, talking and having a few drinks. Wally had a great personality and sense of humor. I always remember him with a smile on his face. He was an easy person to talk with. I remember dancing at your wedding. Auntie Shirley, Brenda and family I'am very saddened to hear about Uncle Wally's passing. I'm even more sorry that distance/miles have kept our visits few and far between over the past years. I have the most wonderful memories of times I spent with the two of you and Brenda during my childhood. Know that I'm thinking of you all during this most difficult time and wish that I was there to hold your hands. Big hugs to you all. Much love Dianne - Posted by: Dianne and Tim Slack (God-Daughter) on: Jan 25, 2012
