RAINER WEISKE 1933 - 2012 It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and opa on Saturday, January 21, 2012 peacefully with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Petra, sister Eva Stein, children: Deb (Dale), Gerry (Kim), Nicole (Scott), Eric (Shelly), daughter-in-law Linda (Brian) Gray, grandchildren: Scott Gray, Joelle and Alex Robertson, Lyndy (Josiah) Cook, Odin, Teegan, Cody, Quinn, Janey, Braiden, Alexis and Audrey. He was predeceased by his parents Johan and Louise, brothers Bernd and Guenther, and son Detlev. Rainer was born in Niederwürschnitz, Germany on May 12, 1933. His electrical career began in Germany when he was just a teenager. He very much enjoyed his career as an electrician and running his own company in Winnipeg for many years. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1960 where he fell in love with Canada's wilderness. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and many summers at Malachi Lake. Dad had many pets over the years, but especially loved dogs and spent many hours training his black labs obedience and hunting skills. Dad was always smiling and loved visitors, he loved life, laughing and joking with everyone around him. He joined the High Steppers Club several years ago and looked forward to the weekly snacks, storytelling, playing bocce ball, shuffleboard and cribbage with his friends and partner Les Horn. For club info go to: www.highstepperswpg.com In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Prince of Peace Senior Social Centre Volunteers - High Steppers Fund endowment held at WINNIPEG FOUNDATION (website: www.wpgfdn.org search: High Steppers). The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness during his stay. We will hold a private family ceremony to celebrate his life.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Our deepest Sympathies to you Debbie and Gerry at the loss of your father. I often think of my old house on Nassau St, and all the wonderful neighbours we had back then. Your family always comes to my mind. On behalf of my sister Bev, brother Blair and myself as well as our families. I want to expess our deepest sympathies to you all at this sad time. - Posted by: Cathy Tapp (nee Gibbons) (old neighbour from Nassau St.) on: Jan 31, 2012

  • Thinking of you, Debbie and Gerry, my old friends. May your sorrow be tempered with memories of happy times you spent with your father. I can remember going to the lake with you. I still have a picture in my mind of your dad running out to help me when I drifted out into deep waters on the air mattress. After we moved, I remember your family coming to see us when your relatives were visiting from Germany. Sending healing thoughts for you and your families during this difficult time. ~ Christina - Posted by: Christina Hinton Harper () on: Jan 29, 2012
