Roy or Dad to me was not my biological father but he was in every way my Dad. I was definitely one of the lucky ones when it came to having a stepfather. He loved me like I was his own. Believe me that wasn't always easy. But he was always so kind and soft spoken really. I can't remember a time when he really was angry with me even though he could have been. It is almost two years since you were taken from us Dad and I miss you every day. You were a large part of making me the man I am today. Thank you - Posted by: Robert Baldwin (Son) on: Jan 23, 2014

Uncle Roy was a very kind hearted man, I have two distinct and warm memories of him. The first was when he gave me his son's old boat and motor, which I wanted to pay him for but he said he wouldn't accept any money for it. The second was when I was out walking my dog Daisy and I saw a bear walking through Steep Rock. I was near Uncle Roy's house and brought the dog and myself over quite quickly for fear of our safety. Roy was very nice about it, was interested in the bear, and had a treat for the dog. Gentle and unassuming, he could talk your ear off, and was often "keeping watch" over those who lived "down the hill" in Steep Rock, often waving from his back deck to anyone going by and happened to look his way, which was often due to the huge and beautiful flowerbed that he and Edna kept well looked after. He will be missed. - Posted by: Tyler Nielsen (nephew) on: Feb 01, 2012
