JOSEPH HERBERT CHARNEY Peacefully on January 30, 2012, at the Middlechurch Care Home, Joseph Charney passed away at the age of 94 years. He was predeceased by his wife Nellie, parents Gregory and Helena, sisters Francis and Olga, brothers Kenneth, Mike, Luke and Louis. Surviving him is his twin sister Sally in Williams Lake, BC, brother Walter and sister Rose Buchko, also many nieces and nephews. Joe will be sadly missed by his nephew Russell, wife Diana and family. Joe was born on the family homestead in Ledwyn, MB on July 26, 1917. In his younger years, he was a fisherman on Lake Winnipeg and worked in logging camps in BC. Eventually he took a mechanics trade in Edmonton, AB. where he worked for a few years. He returned to Manitoba, working as a mechanic, mostly in Winnipeg, until his retirement. Joe enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, reading and being with family and friends. He was very sociable and liked entertaining people with his many stories. Thanks to the Middlechurch Care Home staff, for the wonderful care and compassion given to him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Joe's memory. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Gone To Be With His Lord!
