Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNA JEAN FINDLAY (nee SHAVER) Verna passed away peacefully at St. Norbert Personal Care Home, on January 31, 2012 at the age of 85. Her children Betty O'Grodnik (John), David Findlay (Willie), and Larry Findlay (Randa), and five grandchildren, Kimberly, Cory, Thomas, Paula, Spencer, her sister Grace Findlay, and brother Glenn Shaver are left to cherish her memory. Verna was one of seven children (Willis, Fred, Violet, Gladys, Glen, Grace) born to Percy and Pearl Shaver. She was born and raised in the Swan River municipality. Verna married Lloyd in 1948. They moved to a several places (Kelowna, Swan River, Dauphin, Brandon, Selkirk), finally settling in Winnipeg to raise their family. Verna worked in several jobs, eventually working at the Health Sciences Centre as a technician until she retired at the age of 65. Mom was kind, generous, and very loving. She was always there to help her family and gave us all unconditional love and understanding. We will miss her sense of humor and bright smile. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. Services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy.
