Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Hi Gord: I saw you mother's obituary in today's Free Press. I'm sorry for your loss, but she did live a good long life. I hope that your dad is in good health. I lost both my parents in 1998 (Mom in March at 84 years of age and Dad in July just short of his 91st birthday). Are you still curling? I'm now curling in senior and masters leagues at the Heather C.C. and in the mens league at Victioia C.C. (which I joined with some university friends, after our last year at the Grain Exchange C.C). I suppose you have heard that the Grain X has been torn down to make way for an Upper Fort Garry historical centre. Over the past few years,I have seen a few of our friends from our youth: Bernie at some baseball and curling events Bob Snyder at Garry Miller's mom's funeral (I also saw Gary there, and Louis and Elinor Radakovitz) Brian Schledewitz a few years ago (I see his brother Don a lot at the golf course at Sandy Hook; I have a cottage there and he has lived there for several years) Mernie and Chuck Einfeld at their mom's funeral (Louis, Ron, and Elinor were also there) Louis still lives on Castle Avenue in the family house. I suppose that you have retired from the bank. I retired from teaching in 2001, after 34 years of teaching (2 years in Oak Bank and the rest of the time at a junior high school in Fort Garry. So, I have actually spent about 50 years in school. I must have enjoyed the summer holidays too much to choose another profession. If you have a chance, you can email me to update me on your last 40+ years. Gord - Posted by: Gord Menzies (Friend of son Gordon) on: Feb 04, 2012
