THEODORE (TED) ZACHARKOW November 23, 1926 - February 2, 2012 Ted passed away peacefully in Anne's arms after a lengthy illness at Holy Family Home on February 2, 2012. Born in Winnipeg, Ted began his career at Manitoba Sugar at a very young age. He furthered his education by attending night school classes for his accounting career. After 43 years, he retired as chief accountant for the company. Ted was determined, kind, gentle, and a giving father, husband and grandfather. He loved to be surrounded by his family while they played in the pool, enjoyed BBQ's, attended his grandchildren's activities and lending a hand wherever it was needed. Ted and Anne hosted many family gatherings where food, laughter and love were abundant. Ted and Anne enjoyed travelling and always kept in touch with their old and new found friends. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, tinkering on the computer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ted leaves to mourn his wife, Anne, of 62 years of marriage and the love of his life. He also leaves to mourn his two loving daughters whom he loved dearly, Lynda (Barry) and Leslie (Dave); and six grandchildren, Chris (Shannon), David, Melanie (Colin), James, Samantha, Jennifer; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the compassionate and understanding doctors, nurses, and health care workers at Riverview Health Center, where he spent seven months before coming to Holy Family Home where we thought would be his home for many years to come. The staff at Holy Family went above and beyond to ensure that Ted felt comfortable and at home in his new surroundings. A special thank you to Sisters Elvira, Darleane and Tina and all the compassionate staff of 3A Unit. Divine Liturgy will be sung 9:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11 at St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt Street, Winnipeg with Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Home, Riverview Health Center or a charity of your choice.
