BARRY ADAMS With his family by his side, Barry peacefully passed away at the age of 72 after a two year battle with multiple myeloma. After spending the last few months at home enjoying the laughter and warmth of his family, his final days were made comfortable under the wonderful care at Riverview. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Marilyn, of 49 years; his son Rob and family Cindy, Noah and Jordan; his daughter Lynne and family Greg, Joshua, Connor and Ben, as well as many wonderful friends and relatives including his sister Betty Ann and Vern Martin, who raised him since he was 11 years old. Early in his career, Barry worked in a number of different occupations until he found his passion in the life insurance business. In 1966, he became a salesman with Great-West Life, quickly moving into the role of supervisor and sales manager, where he had a positive influence for many others in the business. In 1972, he founded Rob-Lyn Insurance and Financial Services, a company that continues today. He truly enjoyed his long term relationships with staff, clients and Great West Life. Over the years, Barry was recognized for many achievements, but was most proud when he was given the Hopwood Award for outstanding community service. Thank you to Dr. Johnson, who first treated Barry in 1992, giving us 20 wonderful years. Since then, Barry has been committed to helping many others afflicted with cancer through emotional support and the gift of The Bear . He also gave back through his involvement with CancerCare with initiatives such as volunteer recognition functions, and the St. Charles Invitational Golf Tournament. In his leisure time, Barry enjoyed the competition of bowling and the camaraderie of his many golfing buddies at St. Charles Country Club. We would like to thank the many friends and family for their kind support over the last few months, as well as to Dr. Schroeder for his care and compassion during his visits at home as well as Dr. Olujohungbe and his nurse Elizabeth. To continue Barry's fight against cancer, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. A celebration of Barry's life will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m., at the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive.
