EILEEN ROSE GUENTHER (nee STEELE) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Rose Guenther on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at the age of 79. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Fred, and her parents George and Rose Steele. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Glenn (Linda), Kim (Terry), Terry-Lynne (Tom), Tim (Jodi), and grandchildren, Tamara (Bobby), Rick, Brad, Danny, Matt, Brent, Erika, Kaylee, Kirsty, Sarah; her brother Harold; Special Friend Stan Strong; as well as many nieces, nephews and family friends. Eileen was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on August 1, 1932. The Steele family moved to Transcona, Manitoba in 1945. Eileen met her husband Fred in the early 1950s and they married in 1953. Eileen and Fred started their life together in the North End and when their family out-grew their house, they moved to Elmwood where they lived for 34 years. In 1995, after Fred retired, they decided to make their cottage at Gull Lake their home. Sadly, Fred was only able to enjoy their lake life for 14 months. Eileen eventually reconnected with an old friend, Stan Strong who quickly became a great companion. Stan and Eileen spent many happy years travelling to Arizona, South Dakota and to Victoria to visit Eileen's brother Harold and wife Betty. Eileen cherished her grandchildren and spoke of them with love and pride. She was a talented artist who expressed her love of nature through her artwork. When life at the lake became too much for Eileen, she moved to Lac du Bonnet where she would be close to her son Glenn and his wife Linda, who were a wonderful source of support to her during the past year of her life. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Homik, Dr. Bruneau, and all the caring nurses and staff at the Pinawa Hospital. A memorial service will take place at Larter's at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club, 30 River Road, St. Andrews at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, Winnipeg Humane Society or to the Salvation Army.

Our deepest sympathy is with you all in this time of sorrow. Your mother was a great friend and we will always have great memories with her at Gull Lake. She was included, as a family member, when we had gatherings and even beer breaks down at the beach on my aunt and uncle's (Kammerlock) property. We also had good times when the whole family came out on weekends. Take care and our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Dennis and Judy Terleski (Friends) on: Feb 04, 2012
