DOROTHY JEAN CURTIS 1924 - 2012 We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our beloved mother Dorothy on February 2, 2012. Dorothy is survived by daughter Barb (Jerry), sons Wayne (Francine), Gary (Deb); grandchildren Tawnie, Brendan, Cheryl, Paul, Nadine, Kyle and Stephannie; great-grandchildren Samantha, Kaitlyn and Rylan. Dorothy is predeceased by her daughter Carol Curtis, 1946 to 1978, and her husband George, July 11, 1920 to December 19, 2011. Mom was born on November 3, 1924 in Ottawa. After moving to Winnipeg in her late teens, she met the love of her life, George, at his family business, Curtis Tire Service. Soon after, they married and enjoyed 68 years together. This included raising four children and enjoying many Florida holidays and of course the family cottage at Star Lake. Mom and dad spent their last few years at the Knights of Columbus Villa Condominiums in St. Vital close to their family. I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God has laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found the peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart, and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me free. Author-Unknown As per Mom's wishes a private family service was held. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
