John and I went through elementary and junior high at Laura Secord and later worked together at Red River College, albeit in different disciplines. I also knew John's sister Joanne, who attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell with me. John was always a straight shooter, who told it like is and his reputation as an instructor was A1. John was a former instructor of mine at RRCC he certainly knew his stuff and helped me out many times after I got my ticket. I was in a remote area with no one else in the trade but me, got lots of advice and help via the phone from him. John and Kris were great friends to camp with at Painted Rocks in Arizona. John was wonderful to take his truck and saw many times to gather firewood for our community fire and he could always make you laugh.
