LEW MCQUEEN It is with great sadness that the family of Lew McQueen announces his passing on January 31, 2012 at the age of 63. Lew will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Judi, his two daughters and their spouses, Jill and Dave Schweitzer, Megan and Jeff Stralak, his grandchildren Gavin, Amy, Trevor, David and Adam. He is also survived by his siblings Gord, Marilyn, Emily, Gwen and Mavis, and extended family members. Lew's life journey began in Winnipeg. Throughout his life he lived in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Blairmore, Portage la Prairie, White Rock and, in his final years, New Westminster, BC. It can be said wherever Lew lived he was surrounded by family, good friends and great times. Lew enjoyed many athletic pursuits in his life...hockey, curling, golf to name a few and he was keenly interested in history, particularly the Second World War. Perhaps his greatest gift to us all was his kind nature, generosity, ever present sense of humour and quick wit. Lew's most fulfilling accomplishment in life was as Grandpa...he was devoted to his grandchildren and was an active participant (Hockey Grandpa) in their sporting pursuits in the New Westminster area. A casual Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenbrook Park Amenities Centre, 76 Jamieson Court, New Westminster, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lew's memory may be made to either BC S.P.C.A. Surrey Branch, 6706 - 152nd Street, Surrey, BC V3S 3L4 or Crossroads Hospice Society, P.O. Box 1072, Coquitlam, BC V3J 6Z4. His family is grateful for the caring and support of friends and also the Palliative Care team and Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody.
