LILLIAN RUTH JOYCE (nee LANDIN) April 25, 1921 - January 27, 2012 Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Lillian joined those gone before her, including her husband James Joyce, parents, Robert and Ellen Landin, brother Robert Landin, and sister Doris Proceviat. Lillian was born in Quibell, Ontario where her parents immigrated from Sweden and Finland. She married Jim Joyce in 1942 making a home for them at the many construction sites his work took them to throughout Southern and Northwestern Ontario and Manitoba. She worked as a camp cook at many of the sites and enjoyed making new friends, entertaining, and welcomed each new adventure Jim's work provided. She also sold furniture for a time and picked grapes in Niagara Falls. Berry picking became a great source of enjoyment for her, as well as playing cards and dancing the night away. Lillian lived at the Kiwanas Home in Transcona for many years where she spent her time sewing and knitting for her family, and enjoyed the occasional trip to the casinos to try her luck. Recently Lillian called Beacon Hill her home. There she enjoyed playing Bingo, and phoning family and friends with her daily news. She was grateful for the kind and caring staff there. Lillian never missed anyone's Birthday, and although she didn't have children of her own, her many nieces and nephews, including Brian, Sandra, Wendy, Pennie, Cheryl, Debbie, Robbie, Cindy, Gavin and their families were all her kids . She will also be dearly missed by her sister, Joyce (Sam), brother Ray (Elfriede), and her best friend of over 60 years, Ida Carson. Lillian's remains have been donated to science as she wished. A family memorial will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family wishes to thank Beacon Hill for caring for Lillian, as well as the nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital ER for the compassion, kindness and dignity they provided. Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink The years go by, as quickly as a wink Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think.
