Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORA (DORIS) BATENCHUK (nee LISOWICK) June 9, 1922 - January 31, 2012 It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Dora. Dora will be sadly missed by her sons, David (Margaret), Richard (Linda); daughters, Jeanette (Gerald) Franz, Kathy (Dennis) Rudney, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dora is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ettie Crotior, Helen Deneka, Stella (Louis) Madec, Sophie (Art) Knox, Elise Miller; sister-in-law Anne (Harry) Argue. Dora was predeceased by her husband John; parents Conard and Barbara Lisowick; sisters Sadie, Mary, Jean, and Lil. Dora was born June 9, 1922. She was born and raised in Vidir, MB. In 1942 she married John where they raised a family and farmed in the Hayek area. When they moved to Arborg Dora worked as a cook in the Arborg Hotel and then again as a cook in Cambridge, Alaska. She enjoyed travelling with John. They enjoyed camping, fishing, bingo and casino trips. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Upon Dora's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Arborg on 2nd Avenue. Interment of ashes will follow the service in Hayek Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the doctors and staff at Red River Place in Selkirk, MB for their loving care, concerns and support during Dora's stay. Flowers gratefully declined.
