ADAM (EDWARD) HRADOWY 1933 - 2012 It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Adam (Ed) Hradowy in the St. Boniface Hospital on February 7, 2012 at the age of 78 years old. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Angela (Angie and Gary) Moeller, grandchildren Kelsey Moeller, Cassandra and Colin Hradowy plus numerous family members and friends. He is survived by Beverly Hradowy-Loewen (Allan); his sisters Theresa Hutter and Nadia Michaluk; brother Marion (Olga) Hradowy; brothers-in-law Ron Hladun and Doug Adam; sisters-in-law Marie Hradowy, Mary Andreciw and Stella Stefishen, plus several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his wife Steffie in 2006; his son Wayne in 2010; his parents Anna and Michael Hradowy; brothers Harry, Walter (Fern); sisters Geraldine (John) Biy-Hladun, Helen Adam, Sonja (Jim) Orchard, and little Mary. He was also predeceased by his parents-in-law Dymetro and Jessie Stefishen; brothers-in-law Mike (Ann) Stefishen, Steve (Pauline) Stefishen, Nick Andreciw, Paul Stefishen, Joe Stefishen, and sister-in-law Anna (Martin) Marynick. Ed farmed in the Polson District until June 2010 with the help of his son Wayne. Due to failing health, he moved to Gateway Manor in July 2010 in Teulon and finally to Goodwin Lodge Personal Care Home for a few weeks in December 2011. He remained as active as possible on the family farm and was determined to stay on the farm as long as he could. However, he was faced with many challenging health problems since 2006, which he found frustrating and very hard to accept. Ed was a devoted Ukrainian Catholic who served behind the alter for as long as his health prevailed. He supported more than one Ukrainian Catholic Church in the Interlake area. Ed enjoyed being with family and friends and always welcomed company. He enjoyed auction sales and knew many farmers in the Interlake and surrounding area. He enjoyed conversations and could put a smile on one's face by cracking a few jokes. We will truly miss his generosity and sense of humour. It was not uncommon for him to crack a joke or make a nurse smile while being treated for serious heart conditions in the St. Boniface Hospital while fighting for his life. He always spoke what was on his mind; let us know who was boss and made final decisions in life and death. Ed was a man of great strength and knew when to do the right thing. We never doubted his decisions and always respected his wishes. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the community of Teulon's business people and numerous caregivers. This includes Gateway Manor Residence, Home Care providers, Goodwin Lodge and the many special people who helped him cope through the years with his health and tremendous struggles. Special thanks for his dear sister Nadia who barely left his side during the final days of his life and visited daily while he was in the St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Pillay and staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for saving his life too many times to mention and St. Boniface Hospital for making miracles happen before our eyes and providing compassionate and comforting care, and to the family who shared their kind words, farewells, expressions of love and visits during the final days of his life. Viewing will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall. A funeral service will take place on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Komarno, MB (limited seating). Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the charity of one's choice. • Angela, I am sorry I am not able to join you in the celebration of your Dad's life. To let you know, how very sorry I am to hear of his passing and I know it has not been an easy year for him or for you. I am thankful to have had the chance to get to know your Dad if only for a short time and he will be remembered for his strength, stamina, humour, sharp wit even in the face of failing health. He was very lucky to have you too, I recall him saying to me once that he was thankful that you were there to help him. Wishing you strength during this time and good memories to look back on. sincerely T Dawson - Posted by: Tracy Dawson (Goodwin Lodge) on: Feb 10, 2012
