JOSEPH SCIAK December 13, 1922 - February 2, 2012 Joe passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife Nikki, his parents John and Catherine Sciak and brother William Bill the Barber Sciak. He is survived by his stepchildren Bill Wizniak (Diane), Louise Ferris (Bill); four grandchildren, Bill Wizniak Jr. (Trish), Marni Grabowski (Blaine), Erin Ferris and Colleen Weighell, as well as five great-grandchildren, Kevin, Connor, Lisa, Laura and Joey. Joe grew up in the North End of Winnipeg where he attended Strathcona and Aberdeen Schools as well as St. John's Technical High School where he excelled learning the trade of machinist. After graduation he became employed with Bushman Manufacturing, then on to Knopp Tool and Die where he completed his apprenticeship. In 1953 he was hired on at the CN Railway where he spent 35 years until his retirement in 1987. Joe enjoyed the outdoors particularly fishing and spending time with Nikki at the cottage at Bird Lake. He loved to bowl 10 pin and eventually he and Nikki became big fans of curling and never missed watching a game on television. Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of his life was held. Donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice. We would like to extend our appreciation to all the staff on 3 West at Concordia Hospital for their kindness and their gentle care of Joe.
