LAURA VALENTINE BEASSE February 14, 1935 - February 9, 2012 Peacefully after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer Disease, Laura Valentine Beasse passed away, on February 9, 2012. The disease may have taken the last years of her life from us, but we are left with lovely memories of her. Laura was born in Lakeville Kings County, Nova Scotia. She's lived in several provinces, as she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Laura took great pride in being a nurse; she loved her fellow workers and patients. We as a family were very happy that many of the girls were there to care for her in her last years. We're sure that she also kept those nurses going since she was still working . Laura had a voracious appetite for books, always with a book in hand, and a new one the next day. An Agatha Christie book and a cup of tea- to Laura were, heavenly. She had a green thumb, she saved many plants that Holly could never grow and turned them into big beautiful trees that filled the windows of the family home in Balmoral. Laura loved her little Town of Balmoral. She liked to walk up town for morning coffee and meet with friends. Right to the end she spoke of her Big White House on the Hill. Laura enjoyed her years with her Grand Daughter Kaliesa, to whom she referred to as the Prettiest Girl on the Prairie. We're so grateful that Kaliesa got to have enough time to remember her Grandma at her best. Many thanks to the nurses and staff of Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall for your care, being without you we can't imagine. You are truly all angels on earth. A funeral service will be held in Stonewall at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. This would also be Mom's 77th birthday, so together we will celebrate her life as a Wife, Mother, Grandma and Friend.
