Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR WILLIAM BLEUE Passed away quietly a month before his 94th birthday on February 10, 2012 at the Village by the Station in Penticton, BC. Art was born in Winterpeg , Manitoba to Robert Bleue of Newcastle, Ireland and Elsie May Bleue (nee Cordon) of Nottingham, England. In 1943 he became a Cadet in the Canadian Army and rose to the rank of Lieutenant following Officer Training College at Brockville, Ontario. Upon release from the army, he put his Canadian Army Radar Association skills to work becoming a successful technical representative for electronic and electrical instrument sales companies R.H. Nichol, Arthur W. Bleue and R-O-R Associates. Married to Dorothy Irene Hawkins, he moved the family to Vancouver following the adoption of their two daughters, Barbara (now Marolla) and Sandra Bleue. During his west coast days, he was active in the Canadian Figure Skating Association as an ice dancer and judge. A second marriage to Betty Louise Galbraith, added two more children to his family, Carol (now Currie) and Don Galbraith. Art enjoyed a varied and active retirement. VE7BPV was a member of the Penticton Amateur Radio Club and acted as checkpoint radio operator at many Penticton Ironman competitions. He and Betty enjoyed many cruises and volunteered at the South Okanagan Rehab Centre for Owls. Always adventurous, Art learned to fly a Cessna 150 and para-sailed for the first time at the young age of 75. He enlisted with C.O.P.S. (Citizens on Patrol), providing assistance to the R.C.M.P. Latterly, he became a friend of the congregation Beth Israel. His singing voice and talent for declaiming provided much entertainment at the Village. He will be missed by his wife Betty, his children and grandchildren. Art will be laid to rest in the Veterans section of the Penticton Lakeview Cemetery.
