KIMBERLEY DAWN DELANEY (nee RAAFLAUB) After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Kimberley Dawn Delaney (Chicken Nanny), on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 53 years. Left to forever cherish Kim's memory is her husband Gerard Brisson of 15 years of marriage; daughters, Tara Lynne Ross (Edward), of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Tammy Renee Raaflaub (Mike) also of Winnipeg; four grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Damien, Cody, Taylor, and Mikey; as well as her beloved dog Tiki who was her best friend and companion, she misses her dearly. She also leaves to mourn sisters, Patricia Lynne Raaflaub of Victoria, BC, Lori Darlene Hilton (Tim) of Winnipeg; niece Michelle Cornborough (Jeff); brother Brian Douglas Raaflaub (Franca) of Toronto, Ontario, along with some very special people she held dear to her heart, Ken Delaney, and Debbie Brisson (Paul) and Darlene, Art and Michael of Sioux Lookout, Ontario. She was predeceased by her mother Eunice Eleanor Raaflaub; father Kenneth Don Raaflaub; and brother Donald Charles Raaflaub. Killarney, Manitoba was home to Mom over the years, where she made memories and friendships that touched her life deeply. She was known for her love of family, her gentle heart, sense of humour, and selfless acts of love. She worked most of her life in the hospitality industry, which was fitting because Kim had a way with people that made them feel like they had known her their whole life. She was an amazing cook, and while at home with family she would come up with her own special dishes and wait to see the expressions on our faces. It gave her joy. Mom's other love was gardening, inside and out. Wherever Kim and Gerry lived, her garden was the envy of everyone. She taught us all her secret tips her last summer with us. Our favourite flower was a lily called Tiny Nanny . How memorable. Each summer mom looked forward to casting a line, showing everyone how it was done, and camping with Gerry and Tiki. She passed on her Nanny tips to her grandson Mikey. She always got the big one. Kim enjoyed the simple things in life, love of family and friends. In compliance with Mom's wishes, there will be no Funeral Service. A small celebration of the beautiful person she was will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012 between 1:00-3:00 p.m at 88 Swindon Way, River Heights. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Cancer Care, and the staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit 8th floor, especially to Florence. Throughout Mom's journey she grew to care for each and every one of you. The love, care, and unconditional support Mom and our family received will be forever remembered. Thank you as well to the staff at Riverview Health Centre Wing 3E, for taking such wonderful care of Mom in her final days. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Leylak, and Dr. Martin whose compassion meant the world to us. When Mom knew Dr. Martin was coming to the house she would always smile. Dr. Martin you met your match. Also thank you to Mom's palliative nurses, Cathy, Norma and Florence who gave such wonderful care to Kim, and support for our family. They became our friends. There were many more special people who came into Kim's life, over the last few years, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We have needed all your support to get us through this saddest time. To our family and friends thank you for the love and support we have been blessed with. Forever In Our Hearts
