KENNETH GORDON MACCOY October 19, 1935 - February 17, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Grace Hospital due to cancer. Remaining to forever cherish Ken's memory are his wife of 50 years, Madeleine; daughters, Tara, Maureen and Shannon; son Kevin; grandson Philip; brothers Ray (Elaine) Pook, Tim (Fran) Hugh; sisters Val, Pauline and Carol; many wonderful nieces and nephews; as well as his brother-in-law Bruce (Paulette) Hofferd . Ken worked for Salisbury House for 46 years. He started his career at 15 while living in Kenora then moved on to Brandon, Calgary and finally Winnipeg, where he spent the rest of his career as a district manager. During his younger years, Ken loved his sports, especially golf. He had an amazing operatic singing voice but only used it in the shower. Ken will be missed by all who knew him, especially his dogs and cat, who he loved to feed morning toast. In compliance with Ken's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date in Kenora. We gratefully decline flowers, and ask that memoriam donations may be made to any animal rescue group of your choice on Ken's behalf. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to nurses Dawn and Gianna, and all those who made Dad's wish of his own room happen, you will never know what that meant.

We were fortunate to be able to make a few trips up the year or two. Uncle Ken had a sense of humor even up to the end. He was a great person and will be missed by all of us. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the MacCoy Family. - Posted by: Rick Osbakken and family (Nephew) on: Feb 25, 2012

I will always remember the road trip I took with Ken and brother Ray driving them both to visit our sister Val in Two Harbours and listening to them reminiscing about their pranks and friends when they were young kids and teenagers. Also I will remember Ken singing to me opers when I was a little girl. My condolences to Maddie and the family. - Posted by: Carol Heller (sister to Ken) on: Feb 23, 2012

Oh and one thing I forgot was that it also took another day to get to Kenora where I was always amazed at how the tv always went black when ever a commercial came on and Uncle Ken would say how they didn't have commercials in Kenora lol - Posted by: Lynne MacCoy (neice) on: Feb 22, 2012

Though its been like a thousand years, I still remember the summers we went to Manitoba and it only took a day and a half from Victoria to there. It was always something to look forward to, seeing all the relatives. Thomdwindling now, they will always be in our thoughts and hearts forever. - Posted by: Lynne MacCoy (neice) on: Feb 22, 2012
