Dear Nanny, I know that you are gone now, and I wish you weren't. When I was a kid, I remember going over to your house for Sunday night dinner with the whole family and what great food you'd make.I remember each time I came to visit, you would try to teach me my ABC's backwards, I could never do it but I promise you I will one day. I remember when I was older, or just last week, I would go up to the care home you lived in and help feed you. That alzheimers got you pretty bad didn't it ;) and even though each time I went up, you couldn't remember my name or who I was, I still knew it was you. Just sitting with you and holding your incredibly soft hands whenever I could made me happy. Even how you'd tighten your grip when I had to get up and tried to let go of your hand. I miss you. I just want you to know that. And I love you, with all my heart. I'll never forget about you, Nan. That's why I've worn this locket of yours around my neck for the past 3 years. It's to know that you're with me whenever I need you, and that you're watching over me all the time. I love you so much. Rest in peace, Nan, I love you so much. - Posted by: Delainey Currier (Great Granddaughter) on: Feb 28, 2012

The world would be a better place if more people were like Joyce, kind, thoughtful, hard-working, excellent mother, wonderful neighbor. We bought our house late 1950 when it was being built, moved in March 1951. It was a pleasure to meet Joyce at that time. Brenda used to babysit our son Bill & daughter Leslie, Bill chummed with Roy mostly as well as a bit with Glen when they were growing up, Leslie chummed and still keeps in touch with Lorne......... has been a long & treasured history. Thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with you now. Vivian, Bill & Siobhan, Leslie & Richard - Posted by: Vivian Stunden (Neighbor & Friend) on: Feb 28, 2012

I always remember visiting Joyce's house when I was a child. I always had a good time there. When my own mother passed away, Joyce was there for me. She helped me through the sorrow and pain with her understanding and with her shoulder to cry on. She was a very hard worker and a great mom to her children. She will be missed. - Posted by: Gail Pelley nee Painter (considered her to be my aunt) on: Feb 27, 2012
